I hide inside my clothes and watch through the threads
by Cortney Cassidy

Everything I like to do is warm
and anonymous

I would like to read and eat and nap
every two or four or twelve hours
until bedtime

I would like to type
about my problems
from bed

But I’m interrupted by the city
it seeps through my walls
above and below

Downstairs
is techno
or The Office song every 40 minutes

Upstairs
a white Buddhist takes a break from his chants
to sneeze

Outside
a woman pleads into a politician’s voicemail
for something important
